United States and Brazil to Discuss Migration Policies and Humanitarian Issues in Bilateral Dialogue

WASHINGTON, D.C. – In an upcoming Bilateral Dialogue between the United States and Brazil on Migration Policies, Humanitarian Issues, and Refugee Protection, a discussion will be led by prominent officials from both countries. The dialogue, scheduled for April 29, 2024, will focus on international migration challenges and opportunities.

Under Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights Uzra Zeya, who will be hosting the event, stated, "The dialogue will center on protection and humanitarian assistance for refugees, vulnerable migrants, and other displaced persons; support for host communities; and regional coordination on migration management in the Western Hemisphere."

Joining Under Secretary Zeya will be Assistant Secretary of State for Population, Refugees, and Migration Julieta Valls Noyes, White House Coordinator for the Los Angeles Declaration and Special Assistant to the President Marcela Escobari, USAID Acting Assistant Administrator for the Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean Michael Camilleri, and Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary for Border and Immigration Policy Blas Nuñez-Neto.

The Brazilian delegation, led by Secretary of Multilateral Political Affairs Ambassador Carlos Márcio Bicalho Cozendey, will include Director of the Department of Migrations Luana Medeiros and First Secretary Isabel Costa.
