Melissa Dalton meets with Italian Carabinieri's deputy commander to discuss global security

Performing the Duties of Deputy Under Secretary of Defense for Policy, Melissa Dalton, recently met with Deputy Commander of the Italian Carabinieri, Lt. Gen. Riccardo Galletta at the Pentagon on May 8. The meeting was reported by Department of Defense Spokesman Colonel David Herndon.

The leaders discussed a wide range of global security topics during their meeting. These included stabilization operations, security threats along NATO's southern flank, countering irregular warfare, bolstering security in fragile states, and employing the Carabinieri's unique stability policing capabilities to address pressing global challenges.

Dalton expressed her admiration for the Carabinieri's leadership of the Center of Excellence for Stability Policing Units (COESPU). She also thanked them for their commitment to deploying worldwide for defense and stability policing capability development activities. Both leaders reflected on the growing partnership between DoD and Carabinieri and discussed several new areas for cooperation.
