Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III announced on May 17, 2024, that the president has nominated several Navy Rear Admirals for appointment to higher ranks and new assignments.
Navy Rear Adm. Jeffrey T. Anderson has been nominated for appointment to the grade of vice admiral. His proposed assignment includes positions as commander, Sixth Fleet; commander, Task Force Six; commander, Striking and Support Forces NATO; deputy commander, U.S. Naval Forces Europe; deputy commander, U.S. Naval Forces Africa; and Joint Force Maritime Component commander Europe in Naples, Italy. Anderson is currently serving as director of Operations, J-3, at the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command in Camp H.M. Smith, Hawaii.
Navy Rear Adm. Christopher C. French has been nominated for appointment to the grade of vice admiral with an assignment as judge advocate general of the Navy at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. French is currently serving as deputy judge advocate general of the Navy at the Pentagon.
Navy Rear Adm. Nancy S. Lacore has been nominated for appointment to the grade of vice admiral with an assignment as chief of Navy Reserve, N095, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. Lacore is currently serving as commandant at Naval District Washington in Washington D.C.
Lastly, Navy Rear Adm. Scott W. Pappano has been nominated for appointment to the grade of vice admiral with an assignment as principal military deputy assistant secretary of the Navy (Research, Development and Acquisition) at the Pentagon in Washington D.C.. Pappano is currently serving as program executive officer for Strategic Submarines at Naval District Washington in Washington D.C.
