The U.S. Department of Commerce has been ranked among the top five best places to work in the federal government for the 12th consecutive year, according to the 2023 Best Places to Work in the Federal Government rankings. The rankings were released by The Partnership for Public Service and Boston Consulting Group in collaboration with The Washington Post.
The Department of Commerce was honored to be ranked as the fourth-best place to work in the federal government. These rankings are based on feedback collected through the 2023 Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey (FEVS), which tracks levels of employee satisfaction and their likelihood to recommend their organization as a good place to work.
The Department's high ranking is attributed to the hard work and commitment demonstrated by its employees across various bureaus and offices. Their dedication contributes significantly towards fostering a culture of excellence, growth, and innovation within the department, enabling it to address emerging challenges at both national and global levels.
Positive trends observed in the 2023 FEVS underscored an ongoing commitment towards enhancing employee engagement, satisfaction, and positive perceptions towards diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion within the department.
Transparent feedback from employees plays a crucial role in shaping informed decision-making processes across the department. This feedback helps identify areas that require continued investment as well as those already performing at high levels. FEVS results influence several actions across the department; these can be viewed on the Department’s FEVS website.
This year witnessed a remarkable 10 percentage point increase in FEVS participation from 2022 among Department employees. As part of its future plans, the Department encourages continued feedback through participation in the upcoming 2024 FEVS scheduled for launch this week. The aim is to maintain its consistently high ranking as one of the best places to work in federal government.
The Department extends its gratitude towards all its employees for their commitment and congratulates them on another successful year.
