Today, on the International Day of UN Peacekeepers, the United States reaffirmed its support for UN peacekeeping efforts. The nation recognized the contributions of over two million women and men from more than 120 countries who have participated in 71 peacekeeping operations since 1948. Additionally, it honored the nearly 4,200 peacekeepers who have lost their lives in service.
UN peacekeeping is regarded as a significant tool for mitigating conflict and promoting global peace and security. As the largest financial contributor to these efforts, the United States remains committed to enabling peacekeepers to fulfill their missions effectively. Through the U.S. Global Peace Operations Initiative, over $1.8 billion has been provided to partners for training and equipment.
"The United States will remain committed to ensuring peacekeepers can continue to advance peace and security around the world," stated a representative.
