The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 7 has initiated the process for the sixth Five-Year Review of the Findett Corp. Superfund Site in St. Charles, Missouri. This review will encompass Operable Units 1, 2, and 3, excluding Operable Unit 4 (Ameren Substation), where construction of a remedy has not yet commenced.
Five-Year Reviews are essential to assess the implementation and performance of remedies at Superfund sites to ensure they continue to protect human health and the environment.
A public kickoff meeting is scheduled for Thursday, June 27, providing community members with an overview of the Five-Year Review process and an opportunity to register for in-person interviews with EPA site team members.
“EPA Region 7 is committed to meaningful community involvement and engagement with the Superfund cleanup process,” stated Bob Jurgens, Director of EPA Region 7’s Superfund and Emergency Management Division. “Input from community members provides us with valuable feedback about the site and our processes that can be implemented in our team’s approach to the cleanup of the Findett Corp. Superfund Site.”
The sixth Five-Year Review is due by July 20, 2025. The EPA Region 7 site team has established a comprehensive schedule to ensure completion before this deadline while managing other cleanup milestones at the site.
Following finalization and publication of the report in summer 2025, EPA Region 7 will host a public availability session to discuss its findings.
