U.S. Border Patrol Chief Jason Owens announced that agents have arrested 10 members of the Venezuelan gang, "Tren de Aragua," whose "criminal activities" pose a "serious threat." Chief Owens shared his statement in a May 29 post on X.
"Over the weekend, USBP agents across Texas arrested 10 subjects affiliated with the Venezuelan gang, "Tren de Aragua," said Jason Owens, Chief of U.S. Border Patrol. "Keep your eye on this gang. Their criminal activities represent a serious threat to our communities! All 10 subjects will be processed for removal from the US."
According to the Daily Signal, Tren de Aragua is a prison gang that originated in Northern Venezuela and has about 5,000 members. The ten members arrested at the border will be deported.

News Nation reported that members of Tren de Aragua have also been arrested in cities like New York and Chicago and are involved in murder, trafficking, and sex crimes.
"They're very vicious. They have no rules. They gobble up territory almost like a cancer," said Rep. Tony Gonzalez about the Venezuelan gang to Fox News.
Owens is the Chief of the United States Border Patrol, according to his X profile.
