Under Secretary of State John Bass will travel to Lincoln and Omaha, Nebraska from June 5-7 to discuss U.S. foreign policy and its impact on the security, prosperity, and values of Nebraskans and all Americans.
During his visit, Under Secretary Bass will engage with community members and leaders from various sectors including veterans' groups, military services, academia, student groups, industry, local government, refugee communities, and relief organizations. His schedule includes fireside chats at Creighton University and the University of Nebraska. He will also attend the opening of a new Vietnam Veterans Memorial among other local stakeholder meetings.
On Thursday, June 6—marking exactly 80 years since the D-Day invasion of Nazi-occupied France—Under Secretary Bass will participate in a special event hosted by the Nebraska National Guard and Veterans of Foreign Wars. The event will take place from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Nebraska National Guard Museum near Lincoln. Attendees will have the opportunity to see an original amphibious Higgins Boat similar to those used during the Normandy landings.
