The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) will conduct a webinar on June 26, 2024, from 1-3 p.m. EDT to educate stakeholders, employers, and workers in the Southeast region about federal whistleblower protections.

The webinar aims to provide detailed information on federal protections for whistleblowers and how OSHA administers these regulations in the Southeast region, which includes Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Topics covered will include whistleblower laws enforced by OSHA, criteria for filing a complaint, claim processes and procedures, and what occurs during an investigation. Attendance is free but requires registration.

OSHA’s Whistleblower Protection Program enforces provisions of 25 statutes designed to protect employees from retaliation when reporting workplace safety and health violations across various industries such as airline, commercial motor carrier, consumer product safety, environmental protection, financial reform sectors including securities and tax laws among others.

Under the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 (OSH Act), employers are mandated to provide safe workplaces for their employees. OSHA's role involves setting and enforcing standards while also offering training and educational assistance to ensure these protections are upheld for America's workforce.

For further details on whistleblower protections or to register for the webinar visit OSHA’s Whistleblower Protection Programs webpage or https://www.osha.gov.
