Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Daniel J. Kritenbrink and Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu virtually met with their Quad counterparts on July 2. The senior officials reaffirmed the Quad’s commitment to the people and communities of the Indo-Pacific region, including most recently through coordinated humanitarian and disaster relief assistance to Papua New Guinea in the wake of the tragic landslide in May. They also discussed the Quad’s support for regional institutions, including ASEAN, the Pacific Islands Forum, and the Indian Ocean Rim Association. They further addressed pressing regional and global issues.
