Blinken honored the courage of approximately 1,500 Belarusian political prisoners held captive for attempting to exercise freedoms associated with independence. "We call for their unconditional release and our thoughts are particularly with their loved ones on this day," he added.

He reiterated the United States' support for an independent, democratic, and sovereign Belarus, emphasizing that efforts will continue to elevate the voices of those persisting through difficult times.
