Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken spoke with new UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy on July 5, 2024. According to Spokesperson Matthew Miller, Secretary Blinken congratulated Foreign Secretary Lammy on his appointment.

During the conversation, both officials emphasized the enduring and essential importance of the U.S.-UK special relationship in addressing pressing global challenges. These include reaching an immediate and enduring ceasefire in Gaza and supporting Ukraine against Russia’s aggression.

Secretary Blinken noted that he looks forward to welcoming Foreign Secretary Lammy to the NATO Summit in Washington next week.
