On July 5, 2024, Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken issued a statement on behalf of the United States Government congratulating the people of Venezuela on their National Day.

"On behalf of the Government of the United States of America, I wish to congratulate the people of Venezuela as you celebrate the country’s independence this July 5," said Blinken.

He acknowledged the significant challenges faced by Venezuela but commended the citizens for their ongoing efforts toward achieving a democratic future. This endeavor is set to begin with inclusive and competitive presidential elections scheduled for July 28.

"As you mark the 213th anniversary of Venezuela’s independence, the people and government of the United States remain a committed partner in support of your efforts to build a peaceful, prosperous, and democratic future for your nation," Blinken added.
