On July 6, 2024, U.S. Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken issued a press statement congratulating the Union of the Comoros on its forty-ninth anniversary of independence.
"On behalf of the United States of America, please accept my heartfelt congratulations on the forty-ninth anniversary of the Union of the Comoros’ independence," Blinken stated.
Blinken highlighted the growing ties between the two nations, particularly in maritime security. "I am proud of the increasing ties between our countries, including new cooperation in the fields of maritime security," he said. He also expressed optimism about future collaboration, focusing on strengthening human rights and democratic principles and enhancing commercial relations.
"We wish the best to the Comorian people as you celebrate your independence," Blinken concluded.
