On July 6, 2024, U.S. Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken issued a press statement in honor of Solomon Islands National Day, which is celebrated on July 7. In his message, Blinken extended greetings and congratulations on behalf of the people and Government of the United States to the citizens of Solomon Islands.
"I applaud you on successfully conducting a historic election and congratulate Jeremiah Manele on his election as the new prime minister," Blinken stated. He highlighted the longstanding connection between the two countries, referencing shared sacrifices during the Guadalcanal Campaign and expressing optimism for a bright future.
Blinken emphasized the United States' commitment to enhancing bilateral relations through promoting transparency and democratic governance, supporting sustainable economic development, and increasing people-to-people ties.
