Under Secretary for Economic Growth, Energy and the Environment Jose W. Fernandez is traveling to San Francisco, California, on July 8-9 to participate in the SEMICON West semiconductor industry event. He will join a fireside chat and meet with semiconductor industry leaders to highlight U.S. efforts to diversify and secure global semiconductor supply chains.
Fernandez will also discuss the International Technology Security and Innovation (ITSI) Fund established by the CHIPS Act of 2022 and the Department of State’s efforts to bolster critical segments of the semiconductor value chain and protect U.S. investments in the sector. Under Secretary Fernandez will engage with private sector leaders on critical minerals and provide semiconductor production updates.
While at SEMICON West, he will meet with ITSI partner country representatives to deepen collaboration on data and information sharing and build an understanding of collective industrial policies.
