On July 17, Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken will host the Americas Partnership for Economic Prosperity foreign affairs track Ministerial meeting. Foreign ministers from the 12 Americas Partnership countries – the United States, Barbados, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Peru, and Uruguay – will discuss ongoing collaboration to fulfill the hemisphere’s potential to foster inclusive, sustainable, and shared prosperity for all.

During the Ministerial meeting, Americas Partnership members will review progress on commitments made by leaders at the inaugural Americas Partnership Summit on November 3, 2023. The overarching goal of the Americas Partnership is to make the region economically competitive on a global scale. Ministers will identify opportunities to build on early successes in expanding entrepreneurship for greater innovation; broadening access to training in the digital economy; advancing clean energy and decarbonization goals; bolstering the rule of law; and strengthening food security and sustainable food production.

President Biden launched the Americas Partnership initiative at the Ninth Summit of Americas on June 8, 2022. The initiative aims to deepen economic integration within the Western Hemisphere by creating well-paying jobs and promoting competitiveness, resilience, and innovation. By driving regional competitiveness and providing tangible benefits for people in these nations, it aims to serve as a dynamic forum that helps partners effectively tackle pressing economic issues collectively.

The July 17 foreign affairs track Ministerial covers one of three tracks under this partnership. It follows a Finance Ministerial held on April 19 earlier this year and precedes a Trade Ministerial expected later in 2024.
