Antony J. Blinken, Secretary of State, extended warm greetings and heartfelt congratulations to the people and Government of Vanuatu on their National Day. "On behalf of the people and Government of the United States of America, I extend my warm greetings and heartfelt congratulations to you and the ni-Vanuatu people as you celebrate your National Day," he stated.
Blinken highlighted the shared history between the two nations, which has established a strong foundation for their bilateral relationship. He noted that with the recent opening of U.S. Embassy Port Vila, both countries have taken a significant step towards enhancing their partnership and ushering in a new era of cooperation.
"We are also excited that Peace Corps, one of our institutions with a deep history of working alongside Pacific Island communities, has finally returned to Vanuatu and can continue its great work in the ni-Vanuatu community," Blinken added. He emphasized future collaboration on various issues such as improving disaster preparedness and early warning systems in response to increasing extreme weather events.
The Secretary reiterated that the opening of U.S. Embassy Port Vila earlier this month signifies the United States' commitment to Vanuatu and the broader Pacific Island region. "As you enter the 44th year of your independence, I look forward to discovering new opportunities to deepen the U.S.-Vanuatu relationship through the embassy," Blinken said.
"My best wishes are with you and the ni-Vanuatu people on this 44th celebration of your independence," he concluded.
