Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken spoke with Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi, to discuss ongoing tensions and developments in the Middle East.
According to Spokesperson Matthew Miller, Secretary Blinken emphasized the urgency of efforts to reach a ceasefire in the conflict in Gaza. The proposed ceasefire aims to secure the release of hostages, allow an increase in humanitarian assistance, and create conditions for broader stability. Blinken reiterated the importance of preventing further escalation of the conflict.
Secretary Blinken also expressed gratitude towards Jordan for its leadership in providing life-saving humanitarian aid to Palestinian civilians.
