Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken engaged in a conversation today with Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Safadi. The dialogue centered on efforts to de-escalate regional tensions and prevent further conflict escalation.
During the call, both officials discussed a joint statement by the United States, Egypt, and Qatar that called for an immediate ceasefire. This ceasefire aims to provide relief to Palestinians in Gaza as well as hostages and their families. Secretary Blinken emphasized the urgent need to finalize the ceasefire agreement and underscored that no party should undertake actions that could hinder its implementation.
Additionally, Secretary Blinken expressed gratitude for Jordan's leadership in delivering humanitarian aid to Palestinian civilians and fostering regional peace and security.
