The United States has expressed its approval of the Ad Hoc Committee on Cybercrime’s adoption of the United Nations Convention Against Cybercrime. This agreement aims to enhance global efforts to combat cybercrime, a significant and widespread issue impacting communities worldwide.

According to Matthew Miller, Department Spokesperson, "This convention provides additional tools for countries to work together, including through law enforcement cooperation, to address cybercrime, including protecting children."

Miller further stated that the United States will persist in condemning and combating human rights abuses perpetrated by governments that misuse cybercrime laws and other related statutes to target human rights defenders, journalists, dissidents, and others.
