The U.S. Department of Commerce announced today that it will hold a Supply Chain Summit in Washington, D.C., on September 10, 2024, in collaboration with the Council on Foreign Relations.
The Summit aims to explore efforts by government and industry to transition from reacting to global supply chain disruptions to proactively enhancing supply chain resilience. It will bring together leaders from various sectors, including industry, government, academia, and civil society, to share best practices for preventing and addressing supply chain vulnerabilities.
During the event, the Department of Commerce will emphasize its role in assessing and addressing supply chain challenges. This includes launching a new Supply Chain Center within the International Trade Administration’s Industry and Analysis unit. The center combines industry expertise and data analytics to develop risk assessment tools, deliver key insights, and drive targeted actions on critical supply chains and emerging technologies.
"Securing American supply chains is vital to protecting our national security and enhancing our economic competitiveness," said U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo. "This summit will help us both engage with industry and highlight strategies the Biden-Harris Administration is leading to develop data-driven tools and proactively make our supply chains more secure."
