Assistant Secretary of State for Arms Control, Deterrence, and Stability (ADS), Mallory Stewart, will travel to Omaha, Nebraska, from August 13-14, 2024, to attend the 2024 United States Strategic Command (STRATCOM) Deterrence Symposium.
The STRATCOM Deterrence Symposium is an annual event that gathers academic, military, and political leaders focused on deterrence. It also includes international allies and partners who engage in discussions on strategic challenges. During this year’s symposium, Assistant Secretary Stewart will discuss the role of arms control in supporting U.S. deterrence policy and strategy.
Assistant Secretary Stewart will participate in a panel discussion on “International Laws and Norms,” emphasizing the importance of international norms and agreements in maintaining global stability and security. Her participation highlights the ADS Bureau’s commitment to reinforcing a rules-based order and addressing contemporary security challenges through diplomacy and strategic collaboration.
