On behalf of the United States of America, congratulations are extended to the people of Indonesia on the occasion of their Independence Day.
As the United States and Indonesia celebrate 75 years of bilateral relations, both nations remain united in their goals of promoting democracy, respect for rule of law, and friendship between their peoples. Marking a historic new phase in bilateral relations, President Jokowi and President Biden elevated U.S.-Indonesia ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership last November.
"I congratulate Minister Prabowo Subianto on his election as the next president and look forward to working together to expand cooperation on issues of common concern," reads an official statement. The areas highlighted include fostering peace and security in the Indo-Pacific, tackling the climate crisis and clean energy transition, promoting sustainable development, upholding human rights protections, and advancing Indonesia’s digital transformation. Both bilaterally and through engagement with ASEAN, the United States will continue to partner with Indonesia to promote stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
On this Independence Day, best wishes are offered to the Indonesian people.
