Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken met with interim Haitian Prime Minister Garry Conille in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, today. According to Spokesperson Matthew Miller, Secretary Blinken expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Conille for promoting strong collaboration between Haiti’s transition government and the leadership of the Multinational Security Support (MSS) mission. The MSS mission supports the Haitian National Police in re-establishing security and creating conditions conducive to holding free and fair elections.

Both leaders agreed that continued collaboration with the MSS mission, Transitional Presidential Council, and international community is essential for establishing peace and security in Haiti and setting the nation on a path toward democratic governance.

During their meeting, Secretary Blinken and Prime Minister Conille discussed priorities for current and future humanitarian aid as security conditions improve. These priorities include addressing food insecurity, youth unemployment, and health infrastructure in line with the U.S. Strategy to Prevent Conflict and Promote Stability in Haiti. Secretary Blinken reaffirmed the Biden-Harris administration's unwavering support for the timely reauthorization of the HOPE/HELP trade preference program for Haiti.
