Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Ambassador Bonnie D. Jenkins will travel to Manila, Philippines, from September 8-9 and to Seoul, Republic of Korea, from September 10-11, 2024.
In Manila, Under Secretary Jenkins will attend the Philippines Strategic Trade Management Summit (PhSTM), where President Marcos is expected to provide a keynote address. The Under Secretary will meet with Philippine government officials and other partners to discuss strengthening bilateral relationships and promoting peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
In Seoul, Under Secretary Jenkins will lead the U.S. delegation to the Second Annual Responsible AI in the Military Domain (REAIM) Summit. At the Summit, she will meet with officials from the Republic of Korea and other partner nations to discuss opportunities, challenges, and risks associated with using artificial intelligence in military applications. The Summit continues discussions on the Political Declaration on Responsible Military Use of Artificial Intelligence and Autonomy, endorsed by over 50 nations since its announcement at the inaugural REAIM in 2023.
