Arlington, Va. – The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) today commended the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for adopting new rules for unmanned aerial systems (UAS) operating in the 5-GHz spectrum.
“AIA has been a steadfast advocate for unmanned aerial systems operations in the United States, and we’re pleased to see progress reflected in this report and order,” said Di Reimold, AIA’s Vice President of Civil Aviation. “We look forward to collaborating with the Federal Communications Commission and Federal Aviation Administration to establish a permanent band plan.”
On February 8, 2018, AIA filed a petition for rulemaking with the Federal Communications Commission recommending licensing and service rules for control-and-non-payload communications links in the 5030-5091 MHz band.
