The United States has extended its condolences to the people of Vietnam affected by Typhoon Yagi. According to an announcement from the U.S. Mission to Vietnam, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) is providing humanitarian aid to support Vietnam’s response efforts. This aid includes multipurpose cash assistance, shelter, water, sanitation, and hygiene assistance, as well as non-food items to support disaster relief efforts led by the Government of Vietnam.
With more heavy rain forecasted in the coming days, USAID's disaster experts will maintain close coordination with local emergency authorities and partners on the ground. The United States will continue working with various partners, including through the Quad, to support the people of Vietnam during this challenging time.
Additionally, the United States expressed sorrow over the loss of life and damage in other parts of the region impacted by Typhoon Yagi, including China, Thailand, Laos, Burma, and the Philippines. The U.S. has stated its readiness to provide assistance to those in need.
