Senior State Department officials will join the President of Senegal in visiting Silicon Valley on September 27, 2024. The U.S. delegation includes Ambassador Steve Lang, Special Representative Dorothy S. McAuliffe, and Deputy Assistant Secretary Michael Heath. They will visit Santa Clara, Palo Alto, San Jose, and Sunnyvale.
The Senegalese delegation is led by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and includes Minister Alioune Sall and Minister Cheikh Diba among other officials. During their visit, they will meet with entrepreneurs, tech company representatives, academia members, financial institutions, Senegalese start-ups, and the diaspora community.
"This joint visit reaffirms the United States’ commitment to supporting Africa’s digital transformation," stated a spokesperson from the State Department. The trip follows Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s recent launch of the Partnership for Global Inclusivity on AI.
