The Information Technology Industry Council (ITI), a global tech trade association, has released its strategic priorities and recommendations aimed at enhancing Europe's cybersecurity capabilities. This announcement comes as Europe navigates a complex geopolitical and security environment, underscoring the importance of effectively implementing the EU's extensive cybersecurity rulebook to safeguard digital infrastructure.

Laura Wiesenfeld, ITI Policy Manager for Europe, emphasized Europe's leadership in shaping cybersecurity policy through comprehensive legislative frameworks. She stated, "Europe has been at the forefront of shaping cybersecurity policy with comprehensive legislation frameworks and mechanisms to bolster cyber resilience. The focus now must be on unlocking the full potential of all the legislation adopted in the last five years." Wiesenfeld highlighted the need for streamlined implementation and international collaboration by developing open standards and certifications.

ITI has identified three key strategic priorities to enhance cybersecurity in Europe:

1. Strengthening Europe's cybersecurity capabilities by prioritizing legislative implementation, centralizing efforts, expanding ENISA's mandate, streamlining certification development, and promoting a cyber-savvy workforce alongside post-quantum cryptography.

2. Ensuring effective and uniform implementation of cybersecurity initiatives across the Single Market by addressing contradictory requirements, guiding businesses towards compliance, and systematically assessing new legislation impacts.

3. Promoting global approaches to cybersecurity by moving away from sovereignty-centric strategies, fostering cooperation with like-minded partners, and opening standardization processes to global companies.
