Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources Richard R. Verma is set to visit Des Moines and Cedar Falls, Iowa from October 7 to 9. During his trip, Deputy Secretary Verma plans to meet with Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds. The focus of their discussions will be on how the United States is addressing global challenges through local solutions, enhancing technology use, strengthening the U.S. economy, and improving safety for Americans.

In addition to meeting with the governor, Deputy Secretary Verma will engage with political science students at the University of Northern Iowa. He is scheduled to deliver a Presidential Lecture covering topics such as foreign policy, U.S. leadership, and public service.

Further meetings are planned with former Iowa Governor and U.S. Ambassador to China Terry Branstad, Mayor Quentin Hart of Waterloo, Mayor Danny Laudick of Cedar Falls, along with other civic and business leaders. These discussions will revolve around foreign and trade policy and the role of the State Department in supporting Iowa’s economy.
