The Center for Democracy & Technology (CDT) has responded to the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) request for comments on the latest draft of the Digital Identity Guidelines. This marks the second public draft of revision four of Special Publication 800-63.
In its response, CDT acknowledges NIST's efforts to integrate considerations of equity, access, and privacy into identity management processes. The organization emphasized these aspects in their feedback, particularly concerning public benefits administration. According to CDT, this sector requires customer-centered and privacy-conscious identity verification methods to safeguard vulnerable individuals while ensuring they can efficiently access necessary benefits.
CDT expressed satisfaction with NIST's progress in addressing these critical issues.
