U.S. Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women’s Issues, Dr. Geeta Rao Gupta, is set to visit Brasilia, Brazil from October 10-11. The purpose of the visit is to lead the U.S. delegation at the G20 Empowerment of Women Working Group Ministerial.
On October 10, Ambassador Rao Gupta will engage with government officials, parliamentarians, civil society representatives, and local women leaders to discuss U.S.-Brazil initiatives aimed at promoting gender equality.
The following day, on October 11, she will participate in the G20 Empowerment of Women Working Group Ministerial meeting. The agenda includes advancing U.S. priorities related to gender equality such as promoting women's economic security by supporting the care economy, addressing the gender digital divide, and increasing women's participation in the labor force. Other topics include supporting leadership roles for women and girls in tackling climate change and efforts to prevent and respond to gender-based violence.
