The discussion included a call for shifting from military operations in Lebanon to diplomatic efforts as soon as possible. Austin also addressed the humanitarian situation in Gaza, stressing the need for steps to alleviate it.
During the call, Secretary Austin reaffirmed "the United States' unwavering, enduring, and ironclad commitment to Israel's security." He acknowledged Yom Kippur and highlighted the urgency of returning hostages to their families swiftly.
