The U.S. Department of State has announced that Special Envoy for Global Youth Issues, Abby Finkenauer, will be traveling to Rome, Italy, from October 14-17, 2024. Her visit is to participate in the World Food Forum (WFF) Global Youth Forum. This trip highlights the United States' dedication to empowering young leaders and finding global solutions to issues such as food insecurity, climate change, and agricultural innovation.
During her time at the WFF, Special Envoy Finkenauer will take part in the opening session of the Youth Assembly. She will lead discussions focused on how young leaders can transform food systems. In addition, she is scheduled to meet with FAO Deputy Director-General Beth Bechdol to discuss collaborative efforts on agriculture and youth-focused initiatives. The Special Envoy will also engage with youth leaders and speak at the North America Regional Assembly about the role of youth in tackling global challenges.
Throughout her visit, Special Envoy Finkenauer plans to interact with youth leaders and high-level officials to promote civic engagement and cross-border collaboration. These engagements aim to amplify the voices of young innovators who are committed to building sustainable and inclusive food systems.
