The United States government is prioritizing the safety and security of its citizens in Lebanon. Efforts are underway to assist U.S. citizens by providing various options to ensure their safety.
The commercial airport in Beirut remains operational, with numerous flights departing daily. The U.S. government is securing seats for American citizens and their immediate family members wishing to leave Lebanon. Additionally, full immigrant visa processing has resumed at Embassy Beirut for Lebanese family members of U.S. citizens to facilitate family reunification.
Emergency loans are being offered by Embassy Beirut to assist Americans during this challenging period, along with the issuance of emergency U.S. passports.
Since late September, over 8,600 airplane seats have been secured for U.S. citizens, their immediate family members, and lawful permanent residents (LPRs) to leave Lebanon. This has been achieved through reserving seats on commercial flights and organizing U.S.-organized flights from Beirut. Seats remain available on these flights, and the United States will continue organizing additional flights as long as there is demand.
The Department of State is maintaining communication with U.S. citizens in Lebanon via virtual town halls, email, WhatsApp messaging, and phone calls about the support being provided.
Americans seeking more information about assistance can visit the Embassy website at lb.usembassy.gov and fill out the crisis intake form. They can also contact +1 202-501-4444 or 888-407-4747 for further assistance. Enrollment in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) is encouraged for receiving updates from the U.S. Embassy in Beirut.
Since July 31, 2024, a Level 4 advisory has been issued by the Department of State advising against travel to Lebanon due to crime, terrorism, civil unrest, kidnapping, unexploded landmines, and armed conflict risks. The advisory strongly encourages Americans not to travel to Lebanon and those currently there to depart.
