Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken is set to visit Israel and other countries in the Middle East from October 21 to 25, 2024. The trip aims to address critical issues in the region.
During his visit, Secretary Blinken will focus on ending the war in Gaza, securing the release of hostages, and addressing the humanitarian needs of Palestinians. He plans to discuss post-conflict planning and emphasize rebuilding efforts for Palestinians free from Hamas's control. "He will underscore that additional food, medicine, and other humanitarian aid must be delivered to civilians in Gaza," according to a statement by Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller.
Additionally, Secretary Blinken intends to engage in discussions about resolving the conflict between Israel and Hizballah. The goal is a diplomatic resolution that fully implements UN Security Council Resolution 1701. This would allow civilians on both sides of the Blue Line to return home safely. Secretary Blinken will reaffirm U.S. commitment to working with regional partners to reduce tensions and ensure lasting stability.
