U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo recently addressed the ChIPs Network Hall of Fame, expressing gratitude for being honored alongside Under Secretary Vidal. Raimondo praised Vidal's efforts in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship, particularly among women.

"Women entrepreneurs, innovators, and small business owners power America’s economy and are a crucial driver of employment and prosperity across our communities," said Raimondo. She emphasized the importance of investing in everyone's success to maintain U.S. competitiveness globally.

Raimondo highlighted the role of the ChIPs Network in empowering future generations of women by providing them with necessary tools for success. "You’re helping us to empower the next generation of women with the tools necessary to realize their own success, put more cracks in the glass ceiling, and drive US competitiveness," she stated.

The Secretary underscored that inclusivity is integral to initiatives at the Department of Commerce. The Tech Hubs program aims to invest significantly in regions with potential for leadership in advanced technology while ensuring support for entrepreneurs who might otherwise be overlooked.

Raimondo also discussed the CHIPS for America Program, which is revitalizing U.S. semiconductor manufacturing and generating numerous quality jobs nationwide. She noted the increasing demand for skilled workers across various STEM fields, highlighting a workforce agenda designed to equip workers with skills needed for today's economy.

Since President Biden took office, over $1.6 billion has been allocated by the Department towards workforce investment as part of this agenda.

Raimondo concluded by acknowledging partnerships between community organizations, businesses, and government as key to unlocking potential among girls and young women: "By prioritizing these kinds of principles in our innovation investments... we’re going to tap into the limitless potential."

She thanked Under Secretary Vidal for her partnership at Commerce and expressed appreciation towards ChIPs Network for their work supporting women in technology, law, and policy.
