Yesterday, Secretary of the Treasury Janet L. Yellen held a meeting with Germany’s Minister of Finance Christian Lindner. The meeting took place during the 2024 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.

During their discussion, Secretary Yellen highlighted the importance of providing financial support to Ukraine. She referenced the G7 Leaders’ commitment to implementing the Extraordinary Revenue Acceleration (ERA) Loans initiative as part of this effort.

Secretary Yellen also emphasized maintaining the sanctions coalition against Russia and exploring further measures to limit Russia's capacity to continue its war activities.

In addition, international tax issues were on the agenda, along with discussions about Germany’s economic outlook.
