Today, Secretary of the Treasury Janet L. Yellen held a meeting with Türkiye's Minister of Finance Mehmet Şimşek and Central Bank Governor Fatih Karahan. The discussions took place during the 2024 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
Secretary Yellen praised Türkiye for its commitment to maintaining strong and predictable economic policies. She noted that these efforts have significantly improved Türkiye’s economy and contributed to reducing inflation.
Additionally, Secretary Yellen and Minister Şimşek addressed the significance of adhering to sanctions compliance. They emphasized preventing any misuse of the Turkish financial system by those attempting to evade sanctions or engage in terrorist activities.
