Today, the House Judiciary Committee and its Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement released an interim report titled "Quiet Amnesty: How the Biden-Harris Administration Uses the Nation’s Immigration Courts to Advance An Open-Borders Agenda." The report alleges that nearly 1 million illegal aliens have been allowed to remain in the U.S. indefinitely due to administrative actions by the Biden-Harris Administration.

According to the report, since fiscal year 2021, over 3.7 million new cases have been added to the immigration court backlog. In just the first three quarters of fiscal year 2024, more than 1.5 million new cases were filed. The majority of these cases reportedly involve claims that do not succeed. In fiscal year 2023, only 14 percent of adjudicated asylum cases resulted in grants.

The report further states that under the current administration, over 700,000 illegal aliens have had their cases dismissed, terminated, or administratively closed. This trend is said to be increasing each year.

"The Biden-Harris Administration has used the backlog as an excuse to allow even more aliens to remain in America," reads part of the report. It accuses immigration judges of dismissing cases without considering their merits.

The Committee and Subcommittee plan to continue oversight of what they describe as open-borders policies with a view toward legislative reforms.
