Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken held a meeting with Republic of Korea (ROK) Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul. This meeting followed the 6th U.S.-Republic of Korea Foreign and Defense Ministerial Meeting, which included Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin III and ROK Minister of Defense Kim Yong-hyun.
The discussions between Secretary Blinken and Foreign Minister Cho centered on concerns regarding the strengthening ties between Russia and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK). A specific point raised was the deployment of DPRK troops to the Kursk Oblast in Russia. Additionally, both parties explored ways to enhance bilateral cooperation across various global and regional issues.
Both officials reaffirmed their dedication to deepening the U.S.-ROK Alliance. They emphasized its crucial role as a foundation for peace, security, and prosperity not only in the Indo-Pacific region but also beyond.
