The Consumer Technology Association (CTA) has released a statement following the results of the 2024 United States presidential election. Gary Shapiro, CEO of CTA, extended congratulations to President-elect Donald J. Trump on his victory. Shapiro emphasized the importance of unity and a strong economy for all Americans.
Reflecting on past collaborations with the Trump Administration from 2016 to 2020, Shapiro noted joint efforts in several innovation areas such as self-driving vehicles, artificial intelligence, telehealth, workforce development, entrepreneurship, and worker rights. He also mentioned a partnership with the White House in creating a website for COVID-related resources.
Shapiro outlined several priorities from CTA's Innovation Agenda that will guide future efforts. These include fostering pro-innovation policies to support entrepreneurship and technology growth, promoting fair trade and digital policies to access global markets, and enhancing STEM education and workforce development for future job preparedness.
"We are committed to working with President-elect Trump, his administration, and Congress to advance these priorities," Shapiro stated. "The U.S. must remain at the forefront of innovation and competition on the global stage."
CTA is recognized as North America's largest technology trade association. It supports over 18 million American jobs through its members ranging from startups to major global brands. The organization owns CES®, a significant tech event set to take place in January 2025 in Las Vegas.
