The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has announced a virtual open meeting scheduled for November 14, 2024. The meeting will begin at 11 am ET and will include an opportunity for public participation.

Chair Lina M. Khan stated that the meeting would start with remarks from her before opening the floor to public comments on the Commission's work. "Members of the public must sign up for an opportunity to address the Commission virtually at the November 14 event," she noted. Each participant will have two minutes to present their comments.

The tentative agenda includes three presentations:

1. Staff from the Bureau of Consumer Protection’s Division of Marketing Practices will discuss a report on protecting older adults, focusing on fraud trends and efforts to combat them through various initiatives.

2. The Division of Enforcement will present on the FTC’s “Click-to-Cancel” Rule, which aims to simplify canceling negative option plans and ensure transparency in marketing such services.

3. The Bureau of Competition will introduce a new online merger portal designed for stakeholders and the public to submit comments on transactions under FTC review.

Public registration for speaking at the event is open until November 12, 2024, at 8 pm ET. Written comments or video links can also be submitted via a webform if individuals cannot attend live.

A link to join the meeting will be provided on FTC.gov shortly before it begins, and a recording along with related comments will be available afterward. The FTC reserves the right to make these public following the event.

The FTC continues its mission to promote competition and protect consumers while offering resources and information about consumer protection topics online at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
