On November 9, 2024, Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken issued a statement on behalf of the United States, extending best wishes to Cambodia as it celebrates its 71st Independence Day anniversary. The statement emphasized the strong partnership between the two nations and their shared vision for a prosperous and secure Indo-Pacific region.
The past year has seen significant milestones in U.S.-Cambodia relations, including historic bilateral visits by a U.S. Secretary of Defense and USAID Administrator. Additionally, the first-ever U.S.-Cambodia Public-Private Sector Dialogue took place, alongside the resumption of the bilateral Defense Policy Dialogue.
Looking forward to the coming year, both countries will celebrate the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic relations. Blinken noted this milestone as evidence of the enduring ties between their governments and peoples. Plans are in place to further strengthen these connections through Cambodia’s role as U.S.-ASEAN Country Coordinator, economic engagement, health and educational exchanges, law enforcement cooperation, and cultural heritage preservation.
The United States expressed appreciation for continued collaboration with Cambodia on important regional and global matters. In closing, sincere congratulations were extended to Cambodians on their Independence Day.
