The Heritage Foundation has expressed its approval of Pete Hegseth's appointment as Secretary of Defense in the forthcoming administration of President-elect Donald Trump.
Dr. Kevin Roberts, President of The Heritage Foundation, commented on the nomination, stating: "Congratulations to Pete Hegseth on his well-deserved nomination as Secretary of Defense under President Trump. Pete is the right kind of fighter for America, one who is ready to clean up our Department of Defense and restore the ‘peace through strength’ agenda that has made our country great."
Roberts criticized the current state of the military under President Biden and Secretary Austin, claiming it has weakened while international conflicts have increased. He expressed confidence that with Trump's leadership and Hegseth's appointment, there will be a focus on strengthening the military.
Victoria Coates, Vice President at Heritage's Davis Institute for National Security and Foreign Policy, also shared her thoughts: "As the second-youngest American to serve as Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegseth will be a literal breath of fresh air in the musty halls of the Pentagon, where a radical woke social agenda has degraded our proud military." She praised Hegseth’s combat experience and advocacy for veterans as qualities that make him an inspired choice for this role.
