Meta has announced the expansion of its AI capabilities on Ray-Ban Meta glasses to France, Italy, Ireland, and Spain. This move allows users in these countries to interact with Meta AI using voice commands to get answers to general questions. The feature that provides answers based on visual input remains exclusive to the US and Canada.
The rollout includes support for French, Italian, and Spanish languages alongside English. According to Meta, this development offers a hands-free way for users to receive real-time information and recommendations through their smart glasses.
An example provided by Meta illustrates how users can ask questions like “Hey Meta, what’s the best patisserie in Paris?” or “What are some good gift ideas for my kids aged 6 and 8?” and receive immediate responses.
Since the initial launch in September 2023, Meta has been working on ensuring compliance with European regulations. The company expressed excitement about introducing these features in parts of the EU and plans further expansion across Europe.
Currently, features allowing AI interaction based on visual recognition are available only in the US, Canada, and Australia. Meta aims to extend these capabilities to more countries soon.
