The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has released the findings of the 2024 Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey (FEVS), a significant annual survey that gauges federal employees' perspectives on their work environment, management, policies, and new initiatives. The survey results indicate that HUD employees feel more secure in their workplace, are motivated to innovate, and are committed to meeting the needs of people across the nation. This year, over 5,500 HUD employees participated in the survey, achieving a 66% response rate. This is higher than average for medium-sized agencies and surpasses the overall federal government response rate.
"Thousands of dedicated public servants from coast to coast execute HUD’s mission to create strong, sustainable, and inclusive communities for all," stated HUD Agency Head Adrianne Todman. "Part of our duty is to ensure our employees feel empowered and productive in the crucial work they do for the American people. The results of this year’s FEVS survey show that we are making strides in the right direction."
The FEVS serves as an invaluable data resource for government agencies by collecting employee feedback from over 80 executive agencies to drive improvements and support workforce efforts serving Americans. A positive response rate of 65% or higher is considered a strength by FEVS standards. Overall, HUD surpassed this threshold in areas such as Employee Engagement Index, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility Index, and Global Satisfaction Index.
HUD continues to empower its employees through various programs prioritizing personal and professional wellbeing along with safety and advancement opportunities.
This year marked the introduction of Thrive@HUD—a coordinated approach aimed at enhancing employee engagement by strengthening HUD's commitment to employee success. This initiative ensures all voices within HUD are heard while fostering empowerment and connection among teams.
"What’s most important is that we, the Departmental leadership take responses seriously," said Todman regarding ongoing efforts toward improving work experiences at HUD.
