The Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) has released feedback from its member companies to the Department of State concerning the interim final rule of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) exemption for Australia and the United Kingdom under the AUKUS agreement.
"AUKUS can only succeed with the participation and feedback from industry, and AIA has been the leading voice on the policy and regulatory changes needed to realize the full potential of the historic partnership. AIA’s additional recommendations will reduce barriers and streamline defense trade among and between the AUKUS nations," stated Dak Hardwick, AIA’s Vice President of International Affairs. "AIA thanks the State Department and our counterparts in the Australian and U.K. governments for their leadership, and U.S. industry looks forward to utilizing the AUKUS ITAR exemption to promote advanced capability development."
In May, AIA had already commented on these exemptions, urging engagement between industry players and governments of AUKUS nations.
