NFIB-endorsed candidates see major wins in Ohio elections

Ohio voters have made their voices heard in the 2024 General Election, with significant outcomes for small business interests and legislative representation. Notably, 93% of candidates endorsed by the NFIB Ohio-PAC secured victories in their bids for seats in the state legislature.

Chris Ferruso, NFIB Ohio State Director, remarked on the election results: “Small businesses continue to face economic uncertainty, and it’s clear their concerns were felt at the ballot box on Tuesday. We are pleased that so many pro-small business candidates won, and we are confident that they will work to ease the inflationary and regulatory pressures small businesses throughout the state are facing.”

In federal races, Bernie Moreno emerged victorious over incumbent Sen. Sherrod Brown to become Ohio's new U.S. Senator. This change follows NFIB FedPAC's endorsement of Moreno. Additionally, Gov. Mike DeWine is anticipated to appoint a successor for Sen. JD Vance as he steps into his new role as vice president.

The NFIB Ohio-PAC had endorsed 86 candidates for positions within the Ohio State Legislature, with 80 achieving success—a notable 93% win rate. Despite slight gains by Democrats in both chambers of the state legislature, Republicans continue to hold control.

On another front, voters rejected Issue 1, aligning with NFIB small business members' stance against altering legislative map-drawing processes.

The Ohio Supreme Court elections saw victories for Judge Megan Shanahan, Judge Dan Hawkin, and Justice Joe Deters.
